Work,Work,Work

We have been planting, watering, sewing curtains, putting up house numbers, fixing things every night. Still more to do, but its nice to see the progress. We found a wonderful 2 mile walk through a new housing development a mile down the road, so now we having our evening walk back too. Fun to see the changes ....

It pays to pave

We spent the 4th of July doing yard work, and putting in pavers. It was hot and tiring but the end result is worth it. We planted grass seed on the edge, cant wait for it to sprout. I got to use my new gift from my brother (an ice tea maker). I planted 6 roses along the top edge, and a hydrangea, and Japanese maple tree. We had a bbq, and watched the fireworks at the end of the road. The whole town was lite up, it was quite the display. Happy times ......

One month later

We are in our house. I love so many things about it. My idea of planting trees and taking my grand kids picture next to it each year is becoming a reality. In the midst of unpacking and settling in I had the privilege of baby sitting for two days at Julie's softball tournament. Watching the wonderment of everything new that Clementine discovered was my hearts delight. Her hug and smiles is like having joy poured into my soul. You can't help but laugh, when a baby laughs.

The big plunge...

The first picture is the happy fun thing about buying our new house, a new bench and numbers. The other pictures of packing and mess and boxes from floor to ceiling, show the stress of moving. I hope we are in our new house for many years. It is a true blessing from God, and I am amazed at His provision for us! We sign tomorrow!!!!

What a wonder to be a mom

Today has been a fabulous Mothers Day. To most people it would be considered just another day, but Mark has been letting me relax. We went for a walk and there were these cute little daisies everywhere by the lake. He had patience to wait while I wove together a necklace for myself. We talked and then we spotted baby geese with their mom walking around the shore. It was so beautiful. My kids sent me cards and called, I called my mom, and church was great. I had a gal give me her number in Sunday school, and asked to get together some time. God is Good!!

Little drama

These were the left over leads that were on me after my emergency room EKG. I thought I just had a little bug, with the diarrhea and vomiting, then when Mark was going to take me to the hospital for dizziness, I passed out in the hall. He called the paramedics, and said I was in and out for 15 minutes. When they loaded me into the ambulance, my veins were to small for an IV so they waited until I was in a room. Long story short, after an IV and meds, chest x-ray etc .... it was just dehydration and too much caffeine. The rest of the day I just took it easy and I feel fine today. When I was getting ready for bed I found a few leads that the nurse forgot to remove from my ankles and chest. Praise the Lord all is well!

Home Sweet Home?

This is the view from the house we are trying to buy. If everything closes we should be in by the end of the month. While we were watching the inspector walk around and sign the house as OK, these three deer walked through the back yard. It reminded me of the movie with Chevy Chase where he wants to sell his house so he pays the town people to make everything seem perfect for the prospective buyers. I said "cue the deer" when they walked by (like on the movie) and Mark said it at the same time. We had to laugh. Praying it works out :)

Little surprises

I found this blanket in the baby section of the thrift store today. The colors are much more vibrant then the picture. Mark isn't so hot on it, but I think it is classic 70's and i love it!

The other picture is what came out of the dryer after two weeks of the baby being gone. I don't have any idea where they were hiding in my washer and dryer :) I don't know where the matching pair are either. Little cute things :)

NFL DRAFT DAY

I am getting very tired of watching the draft today. Mark stayed home today and continued watching while I went to the thrift store. I was cruising through the baby clothes and i found this little 12 month size cheer leader outfit. My little one will continue the VanDeHey tradition of the Minnesota Viking's.

Where did April go?

The start of the month brought a bad case of the flu. I found the cure! Seeing her turn one, and discover a way to walk, from the knee walk to taking her first steps! Lucky for me, she has been bringing her parents to visit for the last few week ends, and one week end was the celebration of Easter. New life, new awakening. I am blessed.

The Warranty was true...

"You will love this machine" is what the warranty read 28 years ago when I bought it new, and I have. It quit working and I bought a wonderful replacement, but I didn't realize how hard it would be to throw out the old one. I realized its not the machine, but what it represents, that makes it so hard. Doll clothes, kid clothes, crafts, quilts, drapes, mending, tote bags etc... but it doesn't work anymore, so why keep it? So much of the new God offers and I want to hold on to the old, just because its familiar. I am learning to use the new machine, and she purrs like a dream. There will be so many new and wonderful things to sew on it. I am willing to learn the new machine for the benefits, and I am learning to let go of the old. I let go of the familiar in my life to let God take me to the new. Good things ahead!

She is loved....

Baby Bean is having her 1st birthday and my front room is full of gifts to take her this week end. I hear Mark comment about how much she is loved every time he walks by the pile. She doesn't know the car seat cost so much, or that her aunt took special care to get the DVD just right, or that the clothes are in style and will keep her cool this summer. She will enjoy the books and the toy tea pot and piano, but every one of the gifts are tokens of love from her family. It reminded me of Gods gifts to me, rain that I need but take for granted, food that I enjoy, family that loves me.... He is a good God..... We are loved!

Latest find

This travel scrabble game caught my eye at the Goodwill, because I can't resist new, miniture, cheap treasures! It still had the plastic on everything and the original pencil. It took me a long time to turn over all the letters and find the one "V". The other delight was finding a quilt instruction book, with over 50 beautiful patterns. I loved this one called "Freddy's House". I plan on making it for my grandson that I may have one day... I can dream!!!

Promise

The event of a craft magazine arriving in the mail, is the promise of creativity for me. I just cant wait to relax and read it from cover to cover. This one was a gift from my sister (she love me) and every month I get to dream about creating something new, and even do a little cooking, well baking, if the mood strikes.

The things we do for love....

My arms and back are sore today. I decided to work on refinishing the dresser I bought for baby bean. I tried to sand the blue spray paint off, with no success. I then painted it cream, more like a white wash. I bought Martha Stewart labels from Micheal's and added crystal knobs. I put glossy wrapping paper as the drawer liner. Cant wait to give it to her when we go south for her 1st birthday.

Honored to be called Grandma

I love being a grandma, and especially the fact that I can read to little Clementine one day. This book was a gift from my sister, with flap like pages, that hide the things grandmas give as prizes. The other book I have in my collection, a book with different colored ,textured laces that can be threaded in the pages, fun... fun.... fun!

Open your door

"We throw open our doors to God and discover at the same moment that he has already thrown open his door to us. We find ourselves standing where we always hoped we might, standing out in the wide open spaces of God s grace and glory standing tall and shouting our praises." Romans 5

Priceless..

A gift you didn't expect, that blesses your heart! Katie sent me this CD today by Jadon Lavik. The song she pointed out to me is called "Meant to Be". I am including the words in this post. My gift of God, through my daughter today!

"Look around what could i do. this place is unfamiliar and new. So I try to look beyond whats right in front of me. Hope to be found how could this be true. Comfort came and left in such a hurry. So then whats on the other side of this tragedy.

You wake up to find that you re right where you are supposed to be. Trapped in the uncertainly each days mystery. You wake up to find that you re right where you're supposed to be. the Past is unveiled you see you're right where you're meant to be.

Look behind oh how we've grown. All the places we've been. the places I'll never never go back again. If i had only known that all was not lost. It always comes around again round again round again. Patiently waiting just waiting.

til one day you find that you're right were you are supposed to be. Trapped in uncertainty each days a mystery. You wake up to find that you're right where you're supposed to be. the past is unveiled and you see you're right where you're meant to b.e

Now I see the reasons to all of those seasons wondering just how my life would connect. My life would connect but you knew all along all along.

Determination

This is the finished product, after working all day. I volunteered to make Julie's front room curtains, not realizing that my old machine would fight me every step of the way. The fabric she picked was a remnant at Jo Anns, so I had to buy cream fabric, and piece it together to fit. I had 4 panels to do. I was determined to accomplish the goal, so i didn't give up. I need to have that mind set in a couple of other areas too. After doing the curtains , I was in no mood to finish my taxes, but I want that done also. Big surprise! We get 6,000 back! Thank you Jesus! She has a pretty curtain rod that she is going to use, not this tacky one.
